There are hereby created, pursuant to Article VIII, Florida Constitution, Chapters
166 and 170, Florida Statutes, the Charter of the City of Port St. Lucie, and other
applicable law, Residential Street Lighting Assessment Areas within portions of the
incorporated areas of the city for the purpose of providing for residential street
lighting, and the maintenance thereof, from revenues collected by special assessments
levied within such specially benefitted areas. The special assessments within the
areas shall be apart from and in addition to existing municipal and county taxes.
The actual installation and physical maintenance of the equipment required shall be
accomplished by Florida Power and Light Company, the electrical franchise holder within
the City of Port St Lucie.
